Best Overall Cat Tree That Looks Like a Tree
- Beautiful jungle experience for your cat
- Leafy design provides privacy
- Looks great in homes
- Made in the USA with nontoxic materials
- Easy assembly and sturdy
One look at this tree and you’ll know why it’s the best cat tree that looks like a tree.
Designed to look like a real tree, this five-foot On2Pets garden condo really makes a great stylish addition to any room.
Built to handle cats weighing up to 32 pounds, the realistic-looking leaves on this tree really bring out a cat’s natural instincts. They will love having their own bush to hide in and watch their prey.
I really like that the “trunk” is hard solid plastic. No paper tubing like with traditional cat trees.
You will also like the way they rustle like real leaves when your cat is roaming through it. Even the sturdy base made of turf looks and feels like natural grass!
The pressed wood used in the condo’s construction gives it a really weighty, sturdy feel. Cats can curl up on a curved perch, go to town on the scratching posts, or leap from tier to tier.
Like it or love it, this cat tree will become a focal point of conversation and for your cat!

- Leaves could be worrisome if your cat is a “chewer.”
- Not the cheapest option.
Runner-Up Cat Tree With Leaves
- Engineered Wood, Silk, Carpet, Turf, PVC Construction
- Creates a beautiful jungle experience for your cat.
- Various Measurements Available
The On2 Pets Cat Condo is so perfect that another variation of it had to be the runner-up cat tree that looks like a tree.
The bundle here includes a 2-tiered tree (vs 3 in the model above) and set of 2 wall-mountable shelves in the same aesthetic.
Elegant and more compact, this cat tree with leaves invites your cat to peer out from silky leaves when she’s not taking a nap under a canopy. I like the way the curved perches are concealed by natural-looking foliage.
When you place this tree up against a window, your cat can peer out at the trees from inside a tree. Tree-ception!
A 24-inch square base is made from artificial turf is a perfect resting spot when your cat doesn’t mind a little more exposure. That base is sturdy enough to handle leaping cats.
And as you assembly it, you’ll notice how securely the base, trunk, and platforms screw all together.
Overall, a mix of pressed wood, turf carpet and artificial leaves creates a lush environment where a cat can hide and terrorize the neighborhood.
Lastly, we can’t forget the set of matching shelves with the same foliage. They are a huge hit with most cats, as it forms a sky highway that they can traverse.
You do need to mount them into the studs of your all though, for maximum safety.

What We Didn’t Like:

- Pricey.
- Need to drill into wall.
- Not a lot of scratching areas.
Best Budget Pick
- Engineered Wood, Faux Fur, Sisal Construction
- Soft fur carpeting.
- 38"W x 19.25"L x 58"H
This is a very elegant cat tree that looks like a tree at a value packed price.
The design of this cat tree resembles more of a trellis wrapped in arbor garland. Its spires are comprised of natural sisal rope that’s a dream for cats who love to scratch.
The tree also features four perches that are wrapped in a very soft faux fur.
This tree earns big points from me when it comes to versatility for the price. In fact, it’s one of the only tree-style cat trees I’ve seen with so many different options. It features two covered tunnels and one tray.
The tunnels are really appreciated because they offer a concealed space for your cat even though this design doesn’t feature the coverage that’s provided by leaves on some of the other designs.
The dimensions on this cat tree are 38 inches (W) x 19.25 inches (L) x 58 inches (H).
I will say that the press-wood base could be sturdier. However, you can expect this tree to take wear and tear without wobbling if it’s placed on a carpeted area or against a wall.
Rating Breakdown:
- Stability 9/10
- Build Quality 9/10
- Ease of Assembly 9/10
- Price 8/10
- Overall 8.75/10
What We Liked:
- Price.
- Airy while still providing privacy.
- Tons of surface area on the built-in scratching posts
- Soft fur carpeting.
- Plenty of tiers for a cat to jump on.
What We Didn’t Like:
- Could be prone to wobbling with excessive pouncing.
- May have more layers than necessary for a one-cat home.
- Cats may be able to unravel the leafy garland.
Great for Multi-Cat Households
- Engineered Wood, Faux Fur, Sisal Construction
- Provides great views for you cat via high perches.
- 42"W x 34"L x67"
This lively cat tree that looks like a tree features three “turrets” where your cat can perch while surveying the land.
This cat tree tower works perfectly for multiple cats because everyone can feel like queen or king of the castle without crowding in.
The posts on this tree feature that natural sisal rope that cats love to scratch. The rest of the tree is coated in a faux fur that is very soft.
Much appreciated is the fact that the brown carpeting used does a good job of concealing paw marks.
While I do like the look of the leafy garland that wraps around this cat tree, it is a little sparse. However, the design and quality of this cat tree make it a great choice either way.
The highlight of this cat tree is a concealed bed just above the base. Putting the covered bed nice and low is a great idea because those higher beds can make some cat owners a little nervous about “rolling” issues.
The dimensions of this cat house are 34 inches (W) x 42 inches (L) x 67 inches (H).
Rating Breakdown:
- Stability 7/10
- Build Quality 10/10

What We Liked:
- A cozy covered bed that’s low to the ground.
- Plenty of room for multiple cats.
- Provides great views for you cat via high perches.
What We Didn’t Like:
- Leaf garland can become unraveled.
- Doesn’t offer any “shade” from leaves.
- The sisal rope isn’t continuous throughout the pillars.
Most Variety in a Cat Tree That Looks Like a Tree
- Engineered Wood, Faux Fur, Sisal Construction
- All surfaces are soft.
- 62"W x 35"L x77"H
Calling this cat tree that looks like a tree “busy” is a compliment.
There’s a lot going on between a mix of flat perches, curved perches, bowls, half-bowls and two covered kitty bedrooms. You’ll even notice a staircase and ladder thrown in at the top for good measure!
This is a space that your cat can really live in because it offers a sleeping space and playscape all in one!
A generous number of sisal-covered scratching posts will be appreciated so your cat can get their scratching fix from all different angles and heights.
The body of the tree is made of compressed wood covered in plush carpeting. The dimensions on this cat house are 62 inches (W) x 35 inches (L) x 77 inches (H).
Rating Breakdown:
- Stability 9/10
- Build Quality 10/10
- Ease of Assembly 10/10
- Price 6/10
- Overall 8.75/10
What We Liked:
- So much variety.
- All surfaces are soft.
- Room for multiple cats to play and relax.
What We Didn’t Like:
- Can be a little steep in some parts for older cats.
- The leaves are a bit flimsy and easy to tear.
- Draws attention.
Best Cat Tree With Leaves For Climbers and Scratchers
- Pretty and graceful.
- Easy to assemble.
- Reasonable price.
- Made for cats who love height.
- Tons of surface space for scratching.
- Movable.
There’s something very sweet and understated about this pole-style cat tree that looks like a tree.
It’s a top cat tree with leaves if you’re not sure you have the floor space. For all you 80’s kids out there, this reminds me of the vines or beanstalks in Super Mario Brothers!
It’s among the best cat trees that look like a tree if you have a cat with a passion for heights. This tree is comprised of four turf-covered perches built into a thin pole wrapped entirely in sisal rope. Entirely!
Meaning your cat can do pull ups with their paws all the way to the top, allowing for super deep, satisfying scratches. Your furniture will thank you.
The sisal is adorned with an understated, attractive wrapping vine of leaves. At around 8 feet in height, this cat tree quietly offers adrenaline rushes galore for curious cats!
I just hope your climbing cat is as good at coming down off the platforms as they are ascending it.
Unlike many of the other tall cat trees out there, this floor to ceiling one doesn’t rely on a large stable base. There’s a pressure loaded top that secures your ceiling, no drilling required.
That means that it’s portable enough to move between rooms if you like to give your cat variety. The tree also takes up just 14 inches of space across.
Rating Breakdown:
- Stability 6/10
- Build Quality 7/10
- Ease of Assembly 10/10
- Price 7/10
- Overall 7.5/10
What We Liked:
- Pretty and graceful.
- Easy to assemble.
- Reasonable price.
- Made for cats who love height.
- Tons of surface space for scratching.
- Movable.
What We Didn’t Like:
- Not ideal for more than one cat.
- Might be too high for older cats.
- Motivated cats could paw off or chew off the garland vine over time.
Why Cat Trees That Look Like Trees Are Awesome
Your cat is pretty used to enjoying a lush environment outside with nature, from a historical and evolutionary perspective. Have you noticed your cat admiring trees and foliage outside? It’s not just bird-watching.
They are probably fantasizing about climbing them, like their wild ancestors. Why climb?
According to a 2016 paper from the WALTHAM Centre for Pet Nutrition:
Raised areas provide additional opportunities for space use, areas for seclusion, vantage points and a sense of environmental control necessary to minimise bullying and to help cats cope with and alleviate social stress
Effect of a shelf-furnished screen on space utilisation and social behaviour of indoor group-housed cats (Felis silvestris catus)
Cats rely on vertical spaces for safety, relaxation, keeping an eye on their kingdom, and just overall enrichment.
And in multi-cat household, they allow for valuable chill time after spending time in a group and its defined hierarchy.
So for all you owners of timid cats out there, providing Fluffy with a place that’s 100% her own may prevent them from hiding or being shy.
Lastly, a familiar cat tree that looks like a tree with something satisfying to scratch means they’ll be less likely to destroy your sofa or carpet!
Buying Guide
After checking out what might just add up to be every cat tree that looked like a tree under the sun, I’ve reached a few conclusions.
Platforms, Perches, Condos
Focus on the number of places your cat can spend quality time in or on. Make sure they can properly use these spots if your cat is chunky.
Don’t get dazzled by some of the high-concept “tree” cat trees that don’t really offer much room for comfort.
Try to find a tree that offers a combination of perches, platforms, and enclosed “condo” spaces. These hiding spots help your cat feel safe and protected.
Height of the Tree
Height is something else to pay attention to when shopping for your tree. Higher is not always better, as each cat is an individual with how high they want to venture.
But if the cat tree is stable and safe, having the option to venture upwards is always welcome. And if you have a larger cat like I do, make sure those perches are wide enough.
Placement
To see if you have enough space to place the tree, multiply its measurements: length x width x height. Then see what the widest point of the tree spans in mid-air.
While most trees have pretty secure bases, they can be wobbly if you don’t place them on a totally even surface like hardwood or tile. If you are concerned with stability, place the cat tree near a wall or corner.
Finally, put the cat tree it in your cat’s territory, not in some convenience place for you. They won’t use it if it’s in a part of your house they never go to.
With my Maine Coon, it’s right in the living room since she’s a valued member of the family!
DIY Project
For those of you who are handy and like making things, it’s possible to DIY a cat tree that looks like a tree. This approach has benefits of being probably cheaper and high quality, depending on the materials and your skill.
Check out the awesome work and example of this below!
Tree Trunk Style
I have two recommendations for cat trees that look like tree trunks. The first is the Go Pet Club F2093 Cat Tree.
It’s similar to our top picks above, but in a slightly different configuration and totally reminds me of a tree trunk.
Tree Stump Style
The other looks like a tree stump: the FEANDREA Vintage Cat Tree. The brand is a staple in many of my top cat tree posts, and this model features forest tree stump vibe!
Want a Carpeted Model?
The New Cat Condos Premier Cat Play Tree in Brown is definitely a striking piece. Current owners applaud its build quality and sturdiness, because it’s made with real wood and carpet.
And you’ll find their cats chilling in those thick carpeted platforms, happy as can be.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you make a cat tree look like a real tree?
The easiest way to make a cat tree look real is to place it against a window where natural sunlight will help to make the leaves glisten.
You can also surround the cat tree with some real or artificial potted plants to create a “greenhouse” look next to your window.
What is the best cat tree?
The answer depends on your cat’s needs, the space you’re working with and your price range. You may want to choose the cat tree that looks the leafiest if your goal is to create a real jungle for your cat.
That’s why I singled out the On2Pets Cat condo as the top cat tree that looks like a tree. It ensures that your cat will have enough room to relax, play and hide between the leaves while looking good in your house.
Do cats actually use cat trees?
Yes, cat trees satisfy a cat’s natural desires to have a place to play, relax, sleep and be concealed.
A cat tree is also a great way for a house cat to get some exercise because they can climb and jump in a way that you approve of that won’t harm your furniture!
